"You don't build a business. You build people, and people build the business."
— Zig Ziglar
Following up is one of the simplest ways to build real relationships with the people who buy through your link — and it often matters more than the first sale itself.
How you'll know
You're notified by email each time someone uses your link to make a purchase. From there, log into your affiliate dashboard, find the customer's name, and click into it to see their order and contact details.
The 2-2-2 rule
2 days
Check in
Make sure everything arrived correctly, and say thank you
2 weeks
Follow up
Ask how they're liking it, and answer any questions
2 months
Reconnect
Check if they need a replacement or anything else
Along the way, it's a natural moment to invite them to your email list or social media, if you have one.
Keeping track
Follow-up doesn't need to be complicated. A calendar reminder, a simple spreadsheet, a notes app, or even paper all work — the system matters less than actually using one consistently.
A personal touch
A handwritten thank-you card can go a long way, and stand out more than another email. Some affiliates also like including a small "connect with me" card with their social handles or contact info, so customers have an easy way to reach back out.
The fortune really is in the follow-up. A little consistency here builds the kind of trust that turns a one-time customer into someone who comes back.
