Setting a goal is easy. Reaching one is harder — and often it's not about effort, it's about whether the goal was realistic in the first place. A SMART goal is one built to actually be reachable.
What makes a goal "SMART"
- Specific — clear about exactly what you're aiming for
- Measurable — you can tell whether you hit it or not
- Achievable — realistic given your time and life right now
- Relevant — actually connected to what you want
- Time-bound — has a deadline, not just "someday"
A simple way to set one
Ask yourself where you'd like to be in a year or two. Then ask what you're not doing now that you'd need to start doing to get there. Set one small, specific goal based on that answer — not the big end result itself, just the next step toward it.
Build in room for real life
A goal that doesn't account for your actual schedule or energy usually doesn't stick. It's fine — expected, even — to build in flexibility. A goal to post three times a week should account for a busy week now and then, not assume every week goes perfectly.
Start small
You don't need a big goal to start. Something as simple as "post once this week" or "generate my first product link" is a real goal. Small, consistent steps are what get you to the bigger ones.
