Common Constipation Concerns | Dr. Cole's Herbal Remedies

Common Digestive Issues

Digestive discomfort is more common than most people realize. Bloating, gas, abdominal pressure, irregular bowel movements, constipation, and hemorrhoid flare-ups are often signs that your digestive system is under stress.

These symptoms don't happen randomly. They are usually linked to inflammation, slowed motility, circulation issues, dietary triggers, or imbalance in the gut.

Understanding what's happening beneath the surface is the first step toward restoring balance.

Explore natural, topical herbal support options designed to calm irritation, promote healthy circulation, and encourage comfortable digestion — without harsh oral medications.

Belching

Most belching is caused from swallowing excess air. Most of the time, this air never reaches the stomach, but accumulates in the esophagus. Swallowing excess air may be caused by eating or drinking too fast, talking while eating, chewing gum, sucking on hard candies, or drinking carbonated beverages. These are things that many of us do regularly. Excess belching is relieved by using Dr. Cole's Herbal Digestive Support Formula.

Heartburn

When stomach acid backs up into the tube that transports food to your stomach, heartburn can occur. It is a burning pain in your chest, just behind your breastbone. Often, the pain is worse after eating, at night, or when lying down. Some people experience heartburn a few times a week. Dr. Cole wanted to create a topical remedy that would work for those patients who did not get fast relief using other methods — many involving unhealthy chemicals. Dr. Cole's Herbal Digestive Support Formula works fast to remedy heartburn.

Abdominal Cramping

Overeating is one of the most common causes of cramps and discomfort in the abdomen. Eating too much at once causes the stomach to stretch, causing discomfort. It also is caused by the bacteria in the digestive tract that starts working to break down the food, leading to gas and distention. This uncomfortable side effect of overeating is easily remedied using Dr. Cole's Herbal Digestive Support Formula.

Constipation

Constipation most commonly occurs when waste or stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract or cannot be eliminated effectively from the rectum, which may cause the stool to become hard and dry. Constipation is defined as having fewer than three bowel movements a week. Dr. Cole was renowned for her work on digestive support. Most of her regular clients first came to her because of digestive issues. For people who experience constipation regularly, she advised they use Dr. Cole's Constipation Formula every day. For people who rarely have an episode, it should be used twice a day until a bowel movement occurs. It usually does not take more than two applications. Often, people who experience constipation also experience hemorrhoids. Dr. Cole formulated the Herbal Hemorrhoid Formula to help people find relief.

How Transdermal Remedies Work

Transdermal is a big word that simply describes the process that happens when a substance enters the bloodstream through the skin. "Trans-" means across or beyond, and "-dermal" means "relating to the skin," especially the dermis. Put it all together, and you have "beyond the skin."

The dermis is the middle of three layers of skin that protect our body. It is a thick layer of tissue below the thin outer skin layer—the epidermis. The dermis contains capillaries, nerve endings, sweat glands, hair follicles and more. A lot happens in the dermis!

For many thousands of years, medicine men and women, shamans, and healers of all varieties—including regular people like us—have applied substances onto the skin to achieve therapeutic effects. Those beneficial effects range from being calmed, soothed, and relaxed, to being fully cured of an ailment.

In today's world, transdermal drug delivery is now an accepted alternative to oral delivery of drugs and to hypodermic injections. But, it wasn't always that way. The FDA first accepted this approach in 1979, less than 50 years ago. For the first two years, the only approved transdermal drug was scopolamine, used to combat nausea and vomiting caused by motion sickness.

Those of you who suffer from motion sickness are probably very familiar with the patches you can affix to your body a half an hour or so before flying or going deep-sea fishing. They've saved many wretched moments for people over the years.

Interestingly, scopolamine—also known as Devil's Breath—is a poisonous organic compound, obtained mainly from plants of the genus Scopolia. Like many drugs, scopolamine began its existence as a plant.

Dr. Cole first began learning about these very old healing herbs when she found herself having to deal with very sick people who could not take in oral medications of any kind because of their delicate digestive systems. She soon discovered after much experience that the use of transdermal applications of these powerful herbs could be just as effective, if not more so, than oral medications. That's because they bypass the digestive system getting right into the muscles and lymph system and then quickly into the circulatory system.
