From truck drivers battling headaches to arthritis sufferers seeking morning mobility, Dr. Cole's creations have provided a natural, fast-acting alternative to traditional pain management methods. The following is a presentation that was given on November 24, 2015, when Dr. Janell Cole, introduced her innovative AM and PM product line.
Cole Herbals AM and PM Pain Relief Products
As the cold winter months approach, I want to talk a little about the Cole Herbals AM and PM Pain Relief products. Many of my patients experience increased pain during this time. I call them "old barometers” because when the cold sets in, conditions like arthritis and other issues become more noticeable and concentrated.
I created the AM and PM Pain Relief products because pain is not the same throughout the day. Daytime pain requires you to stay alert, and most people can’t just sleep off a headache for 24 hours. The idea behind AM is to address pain that makes you drowsy, like severe headaches or irritation, while keeping you awake. I included Green Tea and Yerba Mate, which are natural antioxidants and contain caffeine, to provide that necessary boost. AM also contains Feverfew, White Willow, Arnica, and other herbs that effectively reduce pain and fever, while keeping you energized.
AM Pain Relief Balm has been especially helpful for those who suffer from headaches, particularly at night while driving. I’ve had truck drivers and others who drive long hours tell me how much they rely on AM to alleviate headaches caused by bright lights and eye strain. They apply it to their forehead and neck, and it works wonders. AM is also great for arthritis. Many of my patients with rheumatoid or crippling arthritis have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. They apply AM to their extremities to improve circulation and ease their pain, which helps them get moving. Most people find that AM provides pain relief for about four hours, similar to Tylenol, and then they reapply as needed.
PM Pain Relief, on the other hand, was designed for nighttime relief. It acts like a natural muscle relaxer. While it shares some of the same pain-relieving herbs as AM—like Feverfew and White Willow—PM also includes Kava and other calming herbs that relax the muscles and ease the nerves. This helps people sleep through the night without tossing and turning to find a comfortable position. PM not only stops the pain but also promotes deep, restful sleep.
Many people, especially those undergoing surgery, swear by the combination of AM and PM. They often say these products work faster than prescription narcotics. This makes sense because, when you take a pill, you can’t direct it to target specific pain—like back pain, for example. It has to go through the digestive system first. However, when you apply a transdermal product like AM or PM, it penetrates the skin directly, entering the system quickly. Since the body is an electrical current, everything is connected—just like when you touch something hot and feel the sensation throughout your body. Similarly, with a transdermal application, you feel relief faster than with a pill, usually within 3-5 minutes, compared to the 15-30 minutes it takes for a pill to kick in.
